A heating and cooling business hands its office to OpenClaw
The owner of a small heating, ventilation and air conditioning business says an OpenClaw agent now runs most of his office, from customer texts to warranty support. He described the setup in a post on Reddit's OpenClaw community on the 2nd of November 2026, published under the name LeftyLorenz. By that morning the thread sat third on the community's front page and tenth in the week's top posts.
In his own words, the agent has "pretty much replaced a secretary and a dispatcher". He calls it "she".
What the owner handed over
According to the owner's post, the agent works across the parts of the business that used to fill an office day.
- Its own company email address. The agent sends and receives mail under the business name.
- A phone number of its own. It has full control of a virtual phone number, a number that lives online and works like a normal line. From it, the agent texts customers and employees.
- Tech support for customers. When a customer has a question about a system, the agent answers.
- Warranty support. The agent handles warranty requests as well.
The owner wrote that the list goes on, and that the effort of setting it up was worth it.
How he kept it apart
The owner wrote that the agent runs on a Mac mini, a small desktop computer, inside a sandbox. A sandbox is a closed space on the machine. The agent works inside it and stays apart from his other systems and files. It also has its own email address and its own phone number.

The same idea appears in a profile published on the official OpenClaw blog on the 16th of October 2026, written by Graham McBain. It describes PJ, a former engineer who co-owns a pest control company with his brother in Ocala, Florida. PJ found OpenClaw in early 2026 and automated much of that business, the blog said. He now helps other local firms set it up, among them roofing contractors, pool contractors, car repair shops and some larger companies in Tampa.
Those setups run on hardware the business owns, according to the blog: a Mac mini, later a Mac Studio, or an office computer. Clients want to keep company data out of third party apps, the blog said. The profile also features Donna, a 66 year old business administrator who uses OpenClaw every day. The author argues that automation has let these businesses grow and hire.
What other owners added in the thread
Replies under the owner's post on the 2nd of November 2026 came from people running similar setups. Each reply is one person's own account.
- Another HVAC owner wrote that he also runs his business with AI help and has automated a great deal.
- One commenter described OpenClaw as the whole tech team for a small business, at a very low cost.
- A backup habit. One reply advised any business that relies on its agent to take a full snapshot of the whole machine before every update. A snapshot is a complete saved copy of the machine, kept ready before each update. The commenter said the time to start on backups is today.
- A second agent. Another commenter runs two OpenClaw agents so that each keeps the other up to date.
The backup advice applies to any business tool that holds daily work. Once an agent answers customers and sends texts to staff, its machine becomes part of the office.
Running OpenClaw on a server of your own
The owner in this story and the firms in the OpenClaw blog run their agents on a machine they control.
OneClickClaw sets up OpenClaw on a dedicated server in the EU for each customer, deployed in one click. Security settings, updates, backups and monitoring are handled for the customer. The agent stays online around the clock, and the customer brings the AI subscription they already pay for. Plans start at EUR 14.99 a month on Starter.
