Hermes Agent comes to your phone: what the new beta app does and how it connects
Nous Research, the company behind Hermes Agent, opened a beta of a Hermes mobile app for iPhone and Android around its NousCon 2026 conference. The conference took place in New York City on the 30th of October, according to the Nous Research account on X. A beta is an early test version shared with a limited group before a public release.
The company publishes a page called "Hermes Mobile Beta" on its own Hermes Agent site. The page invites the reader into the beta and asks them to pick a platform to reserve a spot.
How people got in
The page links to Apple TestFlight for iPhone and to Firebase App Distribution for Android, according to the same Hermes Agent page. Both are services that hand out test versions of an app before it reaches the app stores.
A user in the Hermes Agent community on Reddit wrote on the 31st of October that guests at NousCon received early access to the private beta.
The same day, the tech news account TestingCatalog wrote on X that the app was available for beta testing on both iOS and Android. That post drew 67,600 views. On the 1st of November, TestingCatalog added an update saying both beta apps were full.
When OneClickClaw opened the iPhone invite link on the 1st of November, it showed a "Not Found" page.
What the app does
A community account called Hermes Release Watch listed the features on X on the 31st of October. It is an unofficial fan account that tracks Hermes releases. Its post drew 108,300 views. According to that list, the app lets you:
- Chat with the agent and watch it use its tools as it works.
- Use Live Mode: talk out loud, and a short pause sends the message.
- Set routines on a schedule that deliver their results to Telegram, Discord, Slack or Teams.
- Install skills with one tap.
- Connect services such as Shopify, Stripe, Notion, Linear and Slack.
- Work with plugins, projects and a Kanban board, which is a task board with columns for each stage of the work.
- Track usage and spending.
- Open a terminal, which is a text window for typing commands, plus the agent's files and settings.
- Switch between light and dark themes.
The Hermes Mobile Beta page showed no app store listing and no launch date on the 1st of November.
Connecting the app to your own Hermes
The app offers two ways to connect, according to a setup guide posted on X on the 31st of October by a user named Cruz. His guide drew 22,000 views.
The first way is the Nous Portal, the hosted service Nous Research runs itself. The second is called self-hosted, and it links the phone to a Hermes Agent you run on your own machine.
For self-hosted, Cruz described four steps in his guide:
- Start the Hermes dashboard on the machine that runs Hermes. The dashboard is the control page of the agent.
- In the app, enter the address of that machine.
- Enter the dashboard username and password.
- Tap connect.
He wrote that the app also connects to his Hermes desktop sessions.
His guide closes with safety advice. Reach the dashboard over your home network, or over a private network such as Tailscale, a service that links your own devices to each other privately across the internet. He advised never to open that dashboard to the public internet with only a password in front of it.
The open questions
Two questions from testers sat in the Hermes Agent community on Reddit. One user asked on the 31st of October whether the iPhone app works only with cloud agents. Another asked on the 1st of November why the iPhone beta shows no push notifications, the alerts that appear on the lock screen.
Nous Research had published no answer to either question by the 1st of November.
Why the phone needs an agent that stays awake

The self-hosted mode in Cruz's guide has one condition built into it. When the phone calls, the Hermes Agent at the other end has to be switched on and reachable.
A laptop that goes to sleep cannot answer. The same holds for routines: a job set to deliver to Telegram at seven in the morning runs only on a machine that is awake at seven in the morning.
OneClickClaw runs Hermes Agent on its own always-on server, one per customer, kept running around the clock. The 7-day free trial needs no credit card, and the Starter plan for a Hermes Agent server costs EUR 14.99 per month after that.
